Aponogeton Crispus

Aponogeton Crispus is a versatile aquatic plant known for its adaptability and distinctive appearance. It features a round rhizome that measures 2–3 cm in diameter and produces light green to olive green-brown leaves. These leaves can grow between 8 to 14 inches long and about 2.5 inches wide, displaying a wavy margin and a petiole that can extend up to 18 inches. Unlike some aquatic plants, Aponogeton Crispus does not produce floating leaves.

Native to India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, Aponogeton Crispus typically grows in seasonal ponds and can handle both still and flowing waters. It is well-suited for aquarium cultivation, requiring a mineral-rich substrate and moderate to bright lighting. The plant thrives in temperatures ranging from 59 to 89°F and prefers a pH range of 5 to 6.5. It does not usually need a dormant period in aquariums, although it may lose some leaves and benefit from a short rest in cooler water. It is often grown in removable pots to facilitate this rest period. Aponogeton Crispus is known for its fast growth rate and medium CO2 requirements, making it a robust and attractive addition to various aquatic setups.
