Brazilian Pennyworth

Brazilian pennywort is a fascinating aquatic plant native to the wetlands and marshes of South America. It features distinctive, half-dollar-sized leaves that grow into dense, green bushes, making it a versatile choice for various aquarium placements, including the foreground, midground, or background. Known for its rapid growth, this plant can quickly outpace others in the tank if not regularly trimmed. To keep it from overgrowing and to maintain a neat appearance, it benefits from high lighting and CO2 supplementation, which encourages a low, carpeting effect in the foreground. Propagation is simple; you can trim the stems and replant them, or separate dense clumps and split the roots. Regular cutting of new shoots along the stem helps the plant grow thicker and more compact. Brazilian pennywort is generally easy to moderate in care, thriving in a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 with medium light and required CO2.
