Sword, Marble Queen

Echinodorus Marble Queen, a striking variant of the Amazon Sword, is celebrated for its unique green leaves adorned with white marble-like markings. This eye-catching plant is a hardy choice for aquariums and can thrive in a range of lighting conditions. It does well under moderate light but can achieve optimal growth and coloration with high lighting. While it benefits from CO2 supplementation, it is not a strict requirement for its care.

The Marble Queen Sword needs to be planted directly into a nutrient-rich substrate to support its extensive root system. Its large, broad leaves should be positioned carefully to avoid overshadowing other plants. Regular pruning is necessary to prevent it from growing out of the water and to maintain its desired size.

Propagation is straightforward, involving the separation of new plantlets from the root system or by removing and replanting side shoots. However, it is sensitive to copper, so using tap water with copper content can adversely affect its health. With a height range of 6-12 inches and a pH tolerance of 6.0 to 7.5, this plant is a robust addition to any aquarium setup.
