For optimal growth and a vivid display, Echinodorus martii thrives under moderate to high lighting conditions. While CO2 supplementation is beneficial and can boost its growth, it is not strictly necessary. Providing a nutrient-rich substrate is crucial as this plant is a heavy root feeder. It prefers a water temperature range of 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5. Regular trimming of older or damaged leaves will promote new growth and maintain its lush appearance.

Suitable for both beginners and experienced aquarists, the Ruffled Sword grows well in the mid-ground or background of an aquarium. With a growth rate that is moderate and a maximum size reaching up to 24 inches, this hardy plant can adapt to various conditions, though it is best to avoid sudden changes in the aquarium environment to prevent stress and decay.
