The Echinodorus Vesuvius is a striking and low-maintenance aquarium plant named for its unique leaf structure, which resembles smoke rising from Mount Vesuvius. This hardy species is particularly appreciated for its ease of care and ability to thrive without the need for CO2 or intense lighting.

The Vesuvius Sword flourishes in a temperature range of 65-80°F (18-27°C) and prefers a pH between 5 and 7. It is well-suited to low to medium light levels and demonstrates a moderate growth rate. Like other Echinodorus, it benefits from a nutrient-rich substrate, as it is a heavy root feeder. However, it is adaptable and can cope with less than ideal conditions, making it a great choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists.

To propagate, simply split the runners and replant them. This plant is robust and resilient, but it’s important to avoid significant changes in aquarium conditions to prevent stress and potential rot. For best results, supplementing with CO2 and maintaining high-quality aquarium soil will enhance growth and overall health.
